About Me!
I grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 1979
In 1981 I joined Jostens as a sales trainee in Northern Wisconsin.
In July of 1982 I purchased a Jostens franchise sales territory in Colorado. Living in Fort Collins, I invested 32 years growing my business and providing outstanding service to High Schools and Universities in an area that reached from Casper, Wyoming to North Denver and East.
The sales profession is about careful listening, asking insightful questions for clarification, and then action to serve the needs of customers.
(Sounds like the role of City Councilor, doesn’t it?)
I was consistently recognized as one of the top sales professionals in Jostens National Sales Organization.
As an independent sales person, I created an annual business plan, built a customer service process, a marketing plan, managed a budget and developed talent in my organization. Two of my sales trainees were recognized as National Rookie of the Year.
I believe that my business experience and ability to work with people, will translate in many ways to my role on City Council making me an engaged, curious, action oriented leader!
Upon retirement nine years ago, I jumped over to this side of the Rockies moving to Ogden to marry Kim after a 2 year, long distance relationship. I have three grown children, Jordan, Sam, Kiersten and her husband Alex. Kiersten and Alex have brought a granddaughter into our lives, Lucy. All live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
My stepdaughter, Bridget, is a 3rd year medical student at the University of Utah. She is beginning her rotations at Primary Children's Hospital this month.
All these "kids" are incredible, talented, intelligent young people, and I am very proud of all of them!
Kim and I have been happily married now for 9 years! She is a great support to me in my life and in this campaign for City Council!
In addition to spending time with family, we love to spend time outdoors on our trails, hiking, cycling, and skiing.
I am passionate about Ogden and want to keep my mind engaged in the challenges of learning and problem solving. I enjoy people and constructive conversation. A City Council role representing the community will engage me in listening to and understanding contrasting viewpoints and the needs and visions people have for this wonderful city moving forward.
I have learned a great deal as an Ogden Planning Commissioner. As a member of the City Council, I will continue to challenge myself to grow while serving the community I live in.
In recent years, I have been involved in:
2016 - present member of the Ogden Planning Commission, past Chair.
2014 – present Volunteer at the GOAL Foundation and Events Team
member for the Ogden Marathon
